QUICK ANSWER
Choose the job you want to do.
Start with Marauder for explosive tools, Duelist for direct shooting and grenades, Machinist for deployables, Hunter for slowing enemies, or Medic for team sustain. Consider Specialist when you want to combine class abilities and perks you have already unlocked.
These are editorial recommendations drawn from the official roles below, not a tier list. The source showcases were published pre-release, between July 13 and August 17, 2026. They establish design intent; they do not establish the strongest build on the current patch.
Five class roles at a glance
The middle column summarizes the developer’s showcases. The final column is our suggested reason to try each class. Variant names describe announced options, not a promise that every option is available in your current loadout.
| Class | Official showcase describes | Try it if you enjoy… |
|---|---|---|
| Marauder | Blast Cannon variants, plus Titan Rockets or Rocket Mines for explosive attacks and traps. July 13 showcase ↗ | Using heavy explosive tools against tougher enemies or groups. |
| Duelist | Burst Configuration with Fragment and Precision variants; a Shrapnel Grenade for making space in enemy clusters. July 20 showcase ↗ | Staying involved in direct gunfire and using grenades when enemies crowd you. |
| Machinist | A modifiable Sentry Turret and Bodyguard Drone, including turret options for firepower or slowing enemies. July 27 showcase ↗ | Choosing and managing deployable tools alongside your own shooting. |
| Hunter | Cryo Pulse for freezing enemies; Stasis Bolt for slowing them and making them vulnerable. August 3 showcase ↗ | Controlling enemy movement and helping create openings for your team. |
| Medic | Advanced Trauma Station, team sustain, resistance or fire-rate variants, and revive-related perks. August 10 showcase ↗ | Paying attention to team survival and supporting teammates under pressure. |
Pick one class to try first
Use the following suggestions to narrow your choice. They are editorial advice, not developer rankings or results from our own playtesting.
- Want shooting to stay central? Start by comparing Duelist and Marauder. Choose Duelist if its shooting configurations and grenade tools appeal to you; choose Marauder if rockets and explosive traps sound more engaging.
- Prefer tools that affect the fight around you? Compare Machinist and Hunter. The useful distinction is deployables versus movement control. Neither description tells us which will clear a mission faster.
- Want a support job in a group? Consider Medic for sustain, or Hunter for control. Ask teammates what they plan to bring, then choose the role you want to contribute. Healing does not make a squad invulnerable.
Before committing to a build, read the ability descriptions and available variants in your installed game. After trying a mission, ask whether you enjoyed using the class’s tools and understood when to use them. A role that sounds attractive may still need practice; this overview does not identify an easiest class or a verified solo winner.
Where Specialist fits
The August 17 Specialist showcase describes access to class abilities and perks you have already unlocked. Its example pairs Bodyguard with Particle Beam. That supports experimenting across classes, but it does not establish a complete current build or guarantee access to every tool immediately.
Our suggestion is to identify the two tools you want to combine, then check their availability in your game. Exact unlock requirements remain unverified in this guide. We cannot give you a reliable level threshold or step-by-step unlock checklist from these sources.
Sources and scope
Official sources checked on September 5, 2026. Each class links to its dated developer announcement on Steam. All six showcases predate release; later patches can change abilities and balance. Check current in-game descriptions and official updates before copying a build.
We have not tested these classes in-game. This page covers role selection, with no measured damage comparison, complete build prescription, or verified unlock route. The recommendations are our interpretation of the announced tools.
